Why I'm Running

A Legacy of Service

I’ve served our country as a former U.S. Senate staffer, our community as a two-term elected school board member, and our economy through more than 20 plus years in corporate America, 15 years of public service 40 plus uears community volunteer. For over a decade, I’ve been a public health champion, and throughout my life, I’ve been a committed community servant.

My values are rooted in strong family traditions and built on Christian principles—faith, responsibility, service, and respect for others. Those values guide every decision I make.

As your Indiana State Senator for District 29, I will put forward a clear vision backed by real-world experience. I know how government works, how schools operate, how businesses grow, and how policies affect families at the kitchen table—not just on paper.

I will work to enact smart, commonsense policies that drive economic success and innovation, grow Indiana’s economy, and ensure our education system prepares students to succeed in the next generation—whether that path is college, career, or service.

This campaign is about leadership that listens, experience that matters, and values that endure.

I’d be honored to earn your vote.

About Roni

Raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Roni, also known by her birth name Veronica, demonstrated leadership from an early age through student government, band, and community service. She later attended Ball State University, where she studied Political Science and was actively involved in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Black Student Association, Student Government, and the Student Leadership Board.

After moving to Indianapolis, Roni built a successful career with Allstate while raising her son. Following nearly 20 years in the insurance industry, she transitioned to public service to focus on strengthening communities and improving public health outcomes.

Today, she lives in Indianapolis with her husband and their two dogs, Kiara and Kopper. She is the proud parent of two graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities: Morgan, a high school English teacher and graduate of Prairie View A&M University, and Gerald, a Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate of Howard University.

Questions for the Candidate

Have a question about my platform, priorities, or vision for Indiana? Ask

here and I'll respond publicly to help all voters understand where I stand.

Where Roni Stands

Q: Why am I a republican?

A: Over the past six years, I have been asked this question many times. My response often begins with a simple question in return: Why are you a Democrat? Our ideology is shaped by our upbringing, social experiences, and environment.

My common sense upbringing instilled foundational values rooted in family, faith, community service, personal responsibility, financial responsibility, and a strong commitment to education. These principles guide my decisions and shape my perspective. While I may not agree with every Republican position, my belief in fiscal responsibility and personal accountability strongly aligns with Republican values.

America is a diverse nation, and we are fortunate to live in a country where individuals have the freedom to become who they want to be, pursue their dreams, and follow their passions.

Q: What are my views on the government’s responsibility to American citizens?

A: Government has a responsibility to serve society as a whole, particularly in areas where individuals cannot meet needs alone. This includes national defense, taxation, infrastructure such as roads, public safety, and public education.

Social safety net programs should provide support for citizens facing critical challenges. At the same time, our free enterprise system creates opportunities for innovation and economic growth by allowing entrepreneurs to succeed, creating high paying jobs, supporting skilled trades, and expanding access to higher education opportunities.

Q: What should government do to address the issue of homelessness?

A: Like many complex societal challenges, there is no single solution to homelessness. Addressing this issue requires collaboration among public, private, and faith based partners.

One approach includes providing targeted funding to nonprofit and faith based organizations that deliver evidence based programs and demonstrate measurable outcomes in helping individuals achieve stable housing and self sufficiency.

Q: How can parents find educational options for Indiana students?

A: Parents know their children best. Education is not one size fits all. However, all educational institutions should be accountable for delivering high quality instruction, using evidence based standards, and ensuring student success.

Families should have access to clear information about available educational pathways so they can make informed decisions that best meet their children’s needs.
